25mm Frontier Miniatures ACW figures - 17th AL

I have a sweet spot for these old school Frontier Miniatures (80's) figures. I picked up a few on eBay recently and decided to paint some specifically for a game of "Across A Deadly Field" that I'm running at Nashcon in May. This is the 17th Alabama Infantry Regiment.

 The 17th were organized in Montgomery in August 1861. They fought at Shiloh in 1862, where they lost 125 killed and wounded. They have an impressive service record and later fought at Resaca, New Hope Church, Kennesaw, Peachtree Creek and Atlanta. They lost about 2/3 of their men at Franklin during the Nashville campaign.  A remnant later merged with other AL units and surrendered at Greensboro, N.C. in April 1865.

Being that they are recently painted and the convention game will be their first engagement.....I'm sure they will rout! Here are a few pictures:

A sneak peek of the Shiloh scenario I'm working on for Nashcon. I still have to add lots of fences, orchards, camps, etc. I'm using 15mm buildings with 25mm fiures to keep the ground scale for the buildings correct. Thoughts?

25mm Confederate Artillery

I recently painted these two CSA batteries. Each stand represents a section of two guns in "Johnny Reb 2". In JR2 each stand of artillery only needs two figures, but I painted some extras just for eye appeal, and also to represent additional sections when playing JR3 or "Across A Deadly Field".

These are old, true 25mm figures from Frontier Miniatures. They have a lot of "old school charm", but they sure were tough to clean up. They had massive amounts of flash and mold lines! I miss some of the figures from the "good old days", but I sure don't miss all the prep time! Take care - Cory

3rd Confederate Infantry Regiment

Here is my latest unit fresh off the painting table - the Third Confederate Infantry Regiment. They started as the 18th AR infantry but were soon re-designated as the 3rd Conf. Infantry. They fought in the Western Theater and I've painted them as they might have looked as part of Cleburne's division at the Battle of Franklin in 1864.

These are "old School" 25mm Frontier Miniatures figures. I used to live near where they cast these wonderful figures and I am somewhat nostalgic about them. I remember going to Modelers Mart in Tampa, Florida and watching while they cast these to order. They were great figures back in the 80's, but not so much by today's standards. I have a lot of great gaming memories painting and playing with these figures, and I regret not buying more when they were easily available. Now I troll the halls of eBay looking for them!

I think a lot of people feel the way about certain types of old figure ranges. I few of my friends really hold dear their old 25mm Napoleonic Mini-fig figures and another still loves his old Peter Gilder 25mm Connoisseur figures. They do have a certain charm! Any old ranges that you still hold a special place for you?
