This is a change of pace for me! I usually only paint historical miniatures, but I have recently had some nostalgia for some of the late 1970's and 80's fantasy figures. Like many of you, I started playing with toy soldiers as a kid (Britains, and whatever else I could find), but delved in fantasy figures in the 1980's when Dungeons and Dragons was huge. I amassed a pretty good sized collection of figures from Ral Partha, Grenadier, Broadsword, Superior Miniatures, etc. I still have most of them today. I always liked Tom Meier's (of Ral Partha fame) sculpting and I have been buying a lot of his old sculpts on eBay lately, in order to build Hordes of the Things armies for me and my kids to play with. The kids are more interested in the elves, orcs and goblins right now, so I'm just running with it! Anyway, here are some pics of a 54mm Sea Elf Lord from Tom Meier:

I sent this pic to a friend as a work in progress and he added the beer. Nice! |

A 28mm old Essex fantasy minature. A small hill giant with a captured elf.
I haven't finished adding foliage to the base, but you get the idea! |
